Last week things got a quite loud here in the orchard. I walked outside to the skid loader pushing down apple trees. At first I thought someone was upset and was taking their frustration out on the trees. I was super relieved to find out that the trees were getting removed to make room for the new trees being planted in the next few weeks.
Last year Farmer Dre, decided to run an experiment on a high density orchard system for apple trees. The results were so good, that we have decided to plant all the new trees in the high density growing system. We are pushing down 100 apple trees and planting 800 trees in the same area. The initial investment is much higher, but the yields per acre should be much higher as well.
Like with everything that happens here on the farm, I film it.
